Having seen poor reviews of Christmas lunch last year we were a little hesitant in booking but as it was a short walk away decided to chance it. Food is very tasty & staff were lovely. Great setting for this restaurant. Staff really friendly and attentive. Grilled fish of the day was cooked to perfection. For dessert we had flambéd mixed fruit which was cooked at the table and was delicious! We had several evening meals here enjoying the sun setting over neighbouring headlands and the waves crashing on the rocks below.

The menu included many Portuguese meat and fish dishes. Our real favourite was the Mixed Fruit Flambe dessert. Each time this was cooked in front of us with plenty of spirits used!! Delicious at only Euro 16 for two... We visited the first time without booking and the inside area was fully booked so we were shown to a table outside but undercover . The views were good ,overlooking the sea. The young waiters were very good ,lots of smiles and just the right amount of banter. The food was tasty with the red wine lamb casserole outstanding. We had our wedding party in Fortaleza da Luz! It was a very special day for us and Fortaleza's owner - Luc & staff made it very easy to host our guests and turn it into a memorable day! We had the ceremony in the lawn (which is wonderful), drinks & snacks (including house made ice cream) in the bar... This restaurant has everything to offer. Great food, especially the fish dishes but the Duck was amazing too. it is actually an old fort so it has a lot of character.

The views overlooking the rocks and sea are really beautiful and the staff were full of smiles and made us feel very welcome. The prices were also very good... We were here in October with a group of 10 and had a nice table in the annex looking out to the sea. Good for fish, nice staff..... This was our first restaurant experience in Portugal. Beautiful views & good menu choice. Had run out of mussels but lots of other seafood choices available. Returned again later in the week. We got seated around the side of the building, not such a good view 😞 Excellent food again, but staff could have been better. We went here on our last night and was very impressed with this restaurant. The mixed grilled fish was perfectly cooked along with the fresh vegetables... My wife's meal of grilled prawns and rice were spot on too.. Had some amazing green wine which is a must with fish..... The deserts excelled themselves with lemon tart and creme brulee along...
