The place feels overpriced. I am comparing with conveyor sushi places in Western Washington; well, since Hawaii is more expensive on the whole, the price may be not that bad. The sushi are OK, not the best I've tasted, but good. The choice is limited to a dozen basic varieties. The service is a little bit sluggish, but again this... I ate here about once a day. The food was quick and the most expensive roll was only a little over 5 dollars. The restaurant has all the tables situated around a conveyor belt that brings food around on colored plates, and each plate color represents a price. You can also order off the menu if you don't see what... Been here so many times, good food and helpful staff. Just few things to improve, the waiting can be long especially when they are busy, longest we waited was at least 40 mins. They should of add more seating or have more space so they can accommodate the customers. Need to upgrade the seat its filthy. Utensils are dirty too...
Pretty awesome sushi experience. You can order Freshwe items from menu, but overall very cool dine in and good selection on the conveyor belt. Not the best tasting sushi, but still worth a check out!! If there is sushi on your mind....hit Genki Sushi in Kahului!! We have been going there for 7 years now and will continue to go for as long as they are there and have great food. It's a wonderful experience and a lot of fun. The choices are amazing and there is a huge variety of really good sushi. My entire family and I absolutely love the sushi served at Genki restaurants and have been to the establishments on Maui, Kauai and the Big Island many times. We always look forward to going, and generally order several sushi rolls and have several more from the conveyor. It's fun to watch them make it fresh in front of you! We've been here many times as my partner likes it. It's okay if you want sushi but are on a budget and don't mind poor service. Last night I ordered four dishes when we sat down initially.
Two were not available. The first dish to come was not fresh. Not fresh sushi is not a good thing. Food was good interesting there was a conveyor belt going through the restaurant with food on it you can grab as you want it... kind of weird how long was that food on there!?! Prices determined by plate color that's different server was unable to get our bills correct without going through each of our orders again.. We had dinner at Genki Sushi on a Friday night. It took a little while to get seated. We wanted to sit in a booth instead of the chairs facing the conveyor belt where all the sushi are placed. It's best to order your sushi with your server that way you know it is fresh. Especially if you It was... the prices are great... very cheap.... but with these cheap prices comes cheap service.. and not so great sushi.. its like the McDonalds of any sushi restaurant.. i really don't have much to say about this place.. its just not good. i rather just buy sushi from the super market.

Washington state-based Sea Port Production Corp. says on its website that the wild-caught Philippine Bay scallops are harvested primarily in the southwestern region of Masbate. Divers catch the scallops, and shuck them onshore.Koha Oriental Foods said Genki Sushi was the only client that bought the tainted product, and the distributor has since changed where it gets scallops."We are caught right in the middle," said Dane Nakamura, of Koha Foods."We haven't sold this product to other sushi or other establishments. The eateries will begin to open as soon as they've complied with the Health Department's orders."Genki Sushi in Hawaii has a history of good compliance with food safety regulations, which includes good employee hygiene," Oshiro said. "We will continue to work with Genki Sushi restaurants to ensure their safe operation after the investigation is completed."The state's Hepatitis A outbreak, one of the largest in the nation over the last two decades, has confounded state health officials for two months.The first cases were announced July 1, but officials now believe the outbreak started as early as April 15. As of last week, the outbreak has sickened a confirmed 168 people; 46 have required hospitalization.State health officials have said they struggled to find the source of the outbreak, despite scores of people working on the problem, because of the long incubation period. They hinted that the source may never be found.But they had a breakthrough thanks to a survey for all Hawaii households aimed at tracking the population's dining out and shopping habits.
The survey found that about 23 percent of households had eaten recently at a Genki Sushi restaurant, but at least 70 percent of those who had fallen ill ate there recently. No other eatery or grocery store had a similar result. "Because of the survey, we were able to determine that there was a distinct difference of eating habits at Genki compared to the regular population," Park said. "But our investigation is not over yet. We know that while the majority are associated with Genki, we don't know where the small minority may have also consumed the product."Complicating the search for the source of the outbreak was that Hepatitis A outbreaks have become far less common than in previous decades, thanks to a widely-available vaccine and more stringent food regulations.The last outbreak of Hepatitis A in the United States happened in 2013, and was linked to frozen pomegranate seeds from Turkey. Some 162 cases nationally were linked to that outbreak; eight cases in Hawaii were reported, according to the CDC.
