I'm in the midst of revamping my blog to make my life a little easier. So do not be alarmed as work is still under construction. I went to KLCC recently after work to pick up a pair of shoes but I ended up with nearly 2 pairs hahaha if not one of them have a little flaw, it would have been 2 pairs sighhh... a pair of Dorothy Perkins trousers, a couple of tees for boiboi and a Blue's School book for boiboi's Powertouch. Once hubby was done with his appointment with his client, he headed over to meet me.Since I had bread for lunch I was feeling hungry already so he suggested the 4th Floor Food Court. Once we reached up there he was like.... hmmm feel like eating noodles... let's go Rain Nudle, urrghhh which is some place I don't really fancy coupled with a real life "siew keong" (long story.... there is a Hong Kong film that named a cockroach, Siew Keong) story. I protested and we ended up with the all familar Nippon Tei.Nippon Tei located on the 4th floor of KLCC has always been one of our regular choice of restaurant.
It's fast and reasonabily priced too. However, one might need to wait for a table during peak hours. They'll give out number to you and you just need to wait for your number to be called. So far we have yet to have waited more than 20 minutes. Service is rather attentive but could go down hill when they're really busy.We decided to order 2 different set of food so that we can share the mains. This is what I had... Teppanyaki Chicken set (RM23.00) that came with the usual pickles, salad, miso soup, rice and the teppanyaki chicken in a hotplate. I liked this a lot as the chicken is very tender and the sauce that came with it is really tasty. The accompanying beans sprout, green bell pepper (capsicum) and cabbage was fried to the right texture. Hubby's asked for Salmon Shioyaki set (RM23.00) which is not on the menu but the manager obliged with his order. Typical taste but I gasak (stole all in Malay) all the crispy skin hehehe... Really kesian (sympathise in Malay) him cos he had wanted to dig into his lovely fish when I called out "Wait" and start fiddling with my digicam hahaha.
Sorry love for being patient with me as he said "Haiyah you and your blog grrrrrr...".Nippon Tei offers quite a number of set menu and they're really worth the price, just that don't expect hotel kinda Japanese restaurant standard. With this kinda pricing, it beats Sushi King or Genki Sushi all the time. Was charged for items not ordered. Food is alright but a bit overpriced for what it is. Staff were unhelpful and rude. It was definitely authentically local. There were no tourists, and no signs or menus that were English friendly. They only serve 2 things and both come small, medium or large. The Bun bo hue (beef noodle soup) was 40,000 VND, and waters were 12,000 VND. This place is a good lunch spot after visiting the War Remembrance Museum.The typical Hue soup is very good and cheap.The menu is short and basically everyone takes the Bun Bo Hue soup.This is always good for food safety ;-)...We were very happy with this lunch and would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a quick and local lunch... The price is a bit expensive compared to other local restaurants where you can taste the similar noodle, but when you see how much meat or other stuff in the ball and herbs on the plate, I am sure you will be convinced you make a right choice. Was taken here by local colleagues - it's a regular option on the lunch roster; for good reason - very tasty broth, and generous portions of meat with your bowl of noodles. All for just a few dollars (about 60-70k vnd) I have been going to Dong Ba for 3-4 years now. It was first recommended to me by a local for excellent Bun Ba Hue, a noodle soup made famous in the Imperial City of Hue.
I always order the small bowl, which is 38,000 VND. What really kicks it up is to add a 1/2 teaspoon of the oily... Excellent tasty food, better when add some lemongrass chillies to get spicy...small restaurant for locals, service is so so but quick...50.000 - 65.000 vnd for a lunch...why not try Authentic and tasty noodle soup. Quick service and very filling. My mother never made me Bún bò Huế but if she had, this one would be better. Spicy, sweet, sour, salty there is a lot going on in this bowl of flavour. Visited this place with the XO Foodie Tour. The soup base was heavily flavoured with lemongrass and a hint of pineapple. The "bun" which is a rounded white rice noodle was nice, didn't go soft like the flat noodles no matter how long it soaked in the soup.
