Worst experience I have had at a restaurant. Seriously he said "there are only 4 dishes, you must order 5." We asked why, and he said because there are 5 of us. Then we said "but one is a baby" and he says "my restaurant my rule". interesting finish to a near-insane performance overall. Restaurant completely empty at... We stayed at Hampton inn Vancouver airport in transit to Europe and it was right across from the hotel. This restaurant was a great find for the tired tourist to have quick lunch. Ramen (Larmen) noodle was authentic Japanese flavor and service was good. Price was reasonable at around US$7. They had sushi but we just had sushi right before... BUT this has to be one of the best ramen noodle soups I've had. I ordered the ramen with the extra pork. The broth was flavored just right. The pork was tender and almost melted in my mouth. The noodles were done to perfect al dente. The chef/owner was very friendly. Next time I'm in town, I will eat here...

Great little spot, one man show, owner, chef, etc. Initially we were the only ones there, but 3 more patrons came in as we were eating. Fun talking to the chef. Visited here with a family of 7, it was a tight fit and the food is much better than the basic decor. Although the food took a little while (one man takes order and cooks), it tasted very good and was authentic (we lived in Bangkok for 3 years). He can only prepare one order at a time, so as... The chef is super friendly and told us beforehand that he does not use any chemicals and cares about the ingredients and that this is the REAL genuine ramen. We tried his ramens AND WHOA its really IS MSG FREE and its not oily at all. ITS SO GOOD and you can feel that its really authentic and WOW. The place looks more like a cheap deli than a restaurant, but the food is great. The owner is friendly and takes great pride in serving original Japanese dishes. Had the larmen which is made by the owner-chef and you can taste it!

the sushi was also excellent and it was really nice talking to the chef for a little. Must go back next time I'm in town. It is a hole in the wall place, shares the building with a car-wash, and is not much too look at. But, it is chef own, operated and staffed. He does it all and the food is out of this world. He prepares his own sauces, entrees and the does the dishes too, He can make you feel like you... This is a really neat little place in Richmond. We all had ramen-- they only make a certain amount each day and I watched the chef put the finishing touches on it--there was a real sense of the art to the soup and the details as he was building it. I asked to take away--I was running late--I could see...The other day (I was in Zürich) I had a craving for Japanese food for lunch, so I went to my favorite reasonably priced Japanese restaurant...which, to my dismay, was closed for Easter holidays. Soo...since it was nearby, I went to the fairly new (opened last year) Wagamama.

I think I've been to Wagamama in London before, but must have buried the experience in my mind. I ordered a chicken katsu curry, and my lunchmate ordered a chicken ramen. The chicken ramen was nothing like ramen. The soup was dashi based, which is all wrong, but beyond that, it was just bland and bad. The dashi didn't even taste right in any way. The noodles were just undercooked and bad.

sushi grade fish durhamI understand that they are trying for 'healthy' versions of Japanese favorites, but you just do not make a fake, oddly sweet, curry sauce that has so much cornstarch in it that it's sort of gelatinous and stays in intact, greyish, quivering lumps on your spoon.

I was really starving, but I left more than half of it - I mostly had the plain rice, and the katsu bits (too salty, utterly flavorless chicken, but at least crispy) that I could scrape the sauce off of. The so-called hijiki salad was not too bad. The duck 'gyoza' was so different from what gyoza should be, that they were perversely edible. Sort of like expecting to get Swedish meatballs at Ikea and being served chopped liver instead, if that makes sense.

Not this plasticky fake crap. Wagamama restaurants look really great and all, but the best interior design in the world will not kill the bad aftertaste of g-awful food. (Note, I ranted about this on Twitter - sorry if you follow me there and are hearing this again! But reallly it was that bad.) So, I'm placing Wagamama firmly into my Fake Japanese/Asian Restaurant Hall of Shame. Unfortunately, there are other 'Asian' restaurants that belong there. What are your nominations? What to you makes a so-called Japanese or Asian restaurant just wrong? (My other big Fake Asian Restaurant Hall of Shame member is Yo! What's the deal with London and fake Japanese? Kauai Lagoons Golf Club is a premier 27-hole facility recognized by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the Top 125 Golf Resorts in the U.S. in the April 2011 issue. Designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus, the renovated Kiele Moana Nine (formerly the Kiele Course back 9) received extensive upgrades including the addition of three new holes, more consistent TifEagle putting surfaces, white silica sand bunkers, and is highlighted by dramatic ocean views offering a spectacular run of ocean holes that stretch more than half a mile. The Kiele Moana Nine will be paired with the Kiele Mauka Nine (the original Kiele front 9), creating a signature 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Championship Kiele golf experience. “The Kiele golf experience is legendary for locals and visitors to Hawaii, and we are thrilled to introduce an inspired layout that will make the experience even more memorable,” said Bill Nault, Vice President, Marriott Golf. The Kiele Moana Nine represents the first of three revitalization phases for Kauai Lagoons Golf Club, which will also include the Kiele Mauka Nine (former Kiele front 9) and the Kiele Waikahe Nine (comprised of the best 9 holes from the former Mokihana Course).

All renovated holes will feature new TifEagle putting surfaces, providing smoother putting conditions, and aesthetically pleasing white silica sand bunkers. According to Nicklaus, “With these changes, Kauai Lagoons Golf Club is going to be an incredible golf facility with a premier layout and immaculate course conditions.” Upon completion of the project, Kauai Lagoons Golf Club will consist of three nines, providing 27 holes of Nicklaus-designed signature golf. Each nine will reflect its Hawaiian moniker and will be distinct with a character all its own. In Hawaiian, “Moana” translates to “open ocean;” “Mauka” translates to “toward the mountain,” and “Waikahe” translates to “flowing stream.” The elevated Kiele golf experience comes on the heels of a $50 million transformation that touched all hotel areas of the oceanfront Kauai Marriott Resort on Kalapaki Beach. The resort offers a contemporary look and feel with upgrades to all 356 guestrooms and suites, a redesigned Kukui’s Restaurant and Toro-Tei sushi bar, and a new keiki (children’s) swimming pool with water spout features and a slide, complementing the resort’s 26,000-square-foot pool, the largest single-level pool in Hawaii.
