This cocktail is called the Ootcha Matcha Tea – it has a green tea flavour – which are embedded with some cocktails (Yes, i’m drinking in a hot sunny afternoon – we both had a long day! -with my dear friend, Irien – thanks for being my video model, dear!). The menu is served with a whole bottle of the cocktails – which came along with 3 shot glasses , and yes we all love a little shot, eh?.

For those of you who are familiar with the comfy chill spot on Gandaria City called Munchies, it’s time for you all to say hello to her new sister – Muchies Bar & Bistro, at the newly opened Kota Kasablanka Deriving from the names itself, this new spot offers a more open bar experience – accompanied with several main drinks.

where to buy sushi grade fish san antonioThe place itself has a much more mature setting than their outlet in Gandaria City – which is a pleasant surprise. They have various menus of main course and snacks, but I haven’t tried any of them. But for those of you whom are interested to visit these spot soon, these are the fresh photos that I have got from the PR.

I’m planning to visit this spot again – and I’ll update my views on this new social playground. *all images are the courtesy of Munchies Bar & Bistro. Munchies Dine & Bar Kota Kasablanka, Level GF-FG 28-29 Menteng Dalam-Tebet, Jakarta Selatan Facebook: Munchies Restaurant & Bar Before I start on this post, let me wish you all a very Happy Chinese New Year! May the year of the snake brings you the extra ssssensation, thrill, happiness, prosperity, health, and whatever you are wishing right now! In this post, on the very special session of ON THE RADAR – which will review the city’s dining hub’s performance, I will feature no other than one of the hottest spots in the buzzing district of Kuningan, Jakarta – Otel Lobby. I happened to be in this spot to celebrate a birthday bash of a dear friend of mine. It’s not that crowded when I got in – considering it’s a Monday night. I was however, confused on where to park as there are no clear signs, nor security.

Most of the patrons usually park on the area on Bluegrass, before walking across, or on the street in front of Otel Lobby. However, to put my car there, I needed to get a Valet service (which I don’t need to, considering the empty spots). Perhaps, this kind of hassle should be dismissed. Anyway, since the party hasn’t started, a few friends of mine sat on the iconic bar of Otel Lobby, with Benjamin Browning in sight (Yes, Ladies, he is still smoking hot), and order my favourite drink, Herb n’Bourbon (it’s that good, seriously). I must say that this place is one of the best, or I would say, the best place to enjoy various cocktails. A friend of mine ordered Adlips (if I don’t spelled it wrong) which is very refreshing and cool, and one more drink that I can’t recalled the name – it’s something Indonesian (it’s the only drink name that sounds Indonesia, so you can’t missed it for sure)- it’s very nice for the gentleman, as it has a perfect blend of scotch. Oh and the smoke is actually an effect from my friend Steven, who thinks it will add the level of coolness.

Which I think, did. As the party has started, there is a set menu that has been arranged which we can choose from. For the appetizer, they offered a Mushroom Soup or Sweet Corn Soup. Sorry I don’t have the photo as it’s relatively dark and I’m only geared up with my iPhone, and lightning from my friend (Thanks Irien)’s blackberry. I tasted my friends sweet corn soup and it’s quite nice – as expected. And it goes the same for my mushroom soup. The texture of the soup is not as creamy as I thought it would. Perhaps a slightly creamier soup will be better, with some bread crumbs as a complimentary dish. The main course has 2 options: The Organic Beef Tenderloin, or the Australian Rib Eye. Both the course came out in a nice presentation and also taste. I must say that the steak here satisfy my appetite, after endless trials at various restaurants. The organic beef tenderloin has been cooked perfectly, with succulent addition of their potatoes on the side. Nevertheless, my Australian Rib Eye is way better than the organic tenderloin – as it has more juice, well size also does matter, and also perfect blend of the sauce – which is absorbed perfectly by the meat.

Last but not the least, as desserts, you can have either a Red Velvet & Rainbow Cake, or a Toblerone Puff. Sorry for the low quality shot, as I was again not prepared. But I do hope it gives you a clear picture of the food you will be ordering. For the dessert, I’m a little bit disappointed as it didn’t perform as good as the main course. The Red Velvet & Rainbow Cake for instance, when I ate the Red Velvet alone, it has the perfect amount of sweetness – but it somehow vanishes as I chewed it in one or two bites, as I ate it along with the cream on the top layer. And the Rainbow Cake didn’t have enough taste to compliment itself. To add enough flavour, I must ate it with the ice cream given, which also didn’t generate much taste, unless you eat it with the peanut crumbs that is served. The Toblerone Puff that my friend ordered comes in a very luscious presentation. However, as I tried it along, I noticed that there hasn’t been enough Toblerone chunks that were given to add the dish’s zest.

And the chocolate cream which are given were also not able to add enough flavours to the dessert. So I do hope that the standard of the dessert could be improved much further. But nevertheless, after on year of its establishment, I would say that Otel Lobby still has its charms, and the capability to be better than ever. Hope to see you all there, soon!So for the past week I have been on the hunt for various restaurants in the big Durian. So for the next few days, let me share you some of the spots I have discovered. Oooh, it’s not fine dining – as I believe we all need some casual spots, once in a while (right? :P). So the first up is the newborn baby from one of Indonesia’s great F&B empire, Ismaya Group – Tokyo Belly. Located in Grand Indonesia, this new chill spot is located on spot of the recently closed, Mr.Curry. I haven’t found out exactly why it’s closed – but nevertheless, let’s welcome this new comer with a fat heart! In design terms, the place looks great – they torn down the display glass that Mr.Curry used – which create a more spacious feeling.

Yes, it may not look as breathtaking as the other Ismaya’s baby – but for a casual spot, the place looks ready enough. Upon entering, I was greeted politely by the waiter – before being ushered to the sofa near the window. I was kind off shocked to see that the sofa of this new place in a bad condition. It’s dirty, and has some stains, which you don’t want to see, especially in a yellow-colored seats. The menu is still new, as it is a soft-opening menu. They have an extensive menu, from various Nibbles (which are cure fun, as we haven’t see many of it in Japanese dining spots around the city), Soups, and Sushi Rolls. However, my cousin and I decided to try the Japanese Curry Rice – in which you can select your very own spiciness levels, and the Omurice (a Japanese flavoured rice wrapped in a silky egg omelette – topped with various yummy toppings and sauces). In terms of their service, Tokyo Belly has a good start (which I hope they can keep up when the place is packed with fellow foodnistas).

The food, let’s see. My cousin’s Omurice arrived first with a tempting appearance, and a nice smell. The taste is nice, and very expected – with sweet flavours from the the egg – I’m not sure what sauce is used as the condiments. But it certainly adds the zest. My Beef Curry Rice arrived shortly with a really nice scent! The taste is the usual taste as any other Japanese restaurant in Jakarta, such as the Curry Rice in Sushi Tei. However, this curry is a little bit more creamy and is somehow able to blend with the beef. So that’s a good thing! There’s not much difference on the drinks served on any other restaurants, except some cocktails (which I can’t try unfortunately – as I don’t want to get hammered on the midday). Perhaps you can try them, and let me know how it taste! As an overall, this place is an ok place. I do however expect more from Tokyo Belly – perhaps from adding some photos on the menu to tempt the guests more, and also some more Japanese feel – such as Japanese classical / group music, maybe?
