A Gwent food artist has presented his ‘idol’ Anastacia with a portrait of her - made entirely out of sushi. You may recognise Nathan Wyburn from the 2011 semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent , where he created portraits of Michael McIntyre, Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley using unusual materials. Since appearing on the show, the Ebbw Vale artist, has become somewhat of a celebrity, creating portraits for the likes of Katie Price using fake tan and Ruth Jones from Stella beer mats and merchandise. She’s a different breed of artist so I thought it was only right that I made her a different breed of art. Watch as Nathan presents Anastacia with the sushi portrait: “I found out from following her career and through her friends and family that her favourite food was sushi so I decided to use that to create the portrait. “I knew it would be something different and it would stand out, so I got some rice, soy sauce and other ingredients and started putting the piece together. The soy sauce had a mind of its own and kept running off and pooling off into different sections.” Nathan presented Anastacia with the artwork following her gig at Symphony Hall in Birmingham, and the singer was apparently ‘ecstatic’ with the results.

“I was in the VIP area after the gig and Anastacia recognised me straight away,” Nathan said. The book is named after his idol Anastacia’s first album, ‘Not That Kind'. When he’s not creating his unusual pieces of art, Nathan is also the Youth Ambassador for Pride Cymru and spends his time fundraising for the cause.
