We probably had not visited Archie's Fish & Chips for over 30 years, not because we did not like the quality of the food or the prices, but because London has so many other restaurants that should be sampled. As the title of my review suggests, there were no surprises. We ordered the halibut dinner and washed it down with... We visited at 5:30pm on a Wednesday during the Christmas holiday week and the restaurant was very busy but we were able to get 2 tables together to seat 5 people. Quick, friendly service and haddock and chips were delicious! They have light or regular batter for fish with options for full dinners or just fish and chips. We stop here occasionally when in London. Both the food and the service are pretty good. If you are looking for a basic meal, this is a good option. We eat at Archies at least once a month, and have done for twenty years. My husband grew up here, and has been going since he was a teen. The fish & chips is a treat, but we usually have the seared halibut or the shrimp & haddock skewers.

The chowder is a nice starter if you're really hungry, but... This is the restaurant we use most frequenly (once a week). We go for the Tuesday Seniors special which includes fish and chips, drink, and dessert. The fish and chips are consistent and great. The butter tart pie is amazing. Servers are very friendly. They recognize us and greet us warmly. See you on Tuesday. This is the first Archie's of their Restaurants. The place is certainly in NEED ofIt is all pine wood inside - walls - benches, etc. The Service is usually pretty fast and that is not the problem. We use to have their Seafood soup which they made themselves but the last few years they bring it in from... This place was recommended for fish and chips. Unfortunately, even the person who recommended the place was disappointed on this visit. Apparently usually has good fish and chips and great service. Don't know if our visit was a one off or a new norm. The fish and chips weren't bad but weren't anything special either.
