Melanie was in the right place at the right time and happened to capture some great photos of the resident adult on the Delta Hotel enjoying a morning meal. Sadly, the adult peregrine is not banded and no-one can be sure just who it really is.

Speculation abounds as to the birds identity, but sadly, without a band number, there is no real way to confirm the birds identity or it history. There was only one peregrine observed, but fingers crossed, given that its still on territory, we all have our fingers crossed that there is a mate not too far away! **Most of the other southern Ontario urban nest sites are already involved in some serious courtship activities and/or egg production. It would appear that Etobicoke Sun Life pair have started to lay eggs and the Burlington Lift Bridge pair may already be involved in at least part time incubation duties. The photo was taken on Tuesday 12th Feb. 2013 just after 1.00pm in the car park of the mall at the intersection of Innes Rd and Blair Rd (just outside the Sushi Kan restaurant).

I saw it land having just caught it’s lunch, but did not see it take off again so unfortunately don’t know which direction it flew. I’m in that area quite often so I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled, it’s an impressive sight, that’s for sure! One of the resident adults photographed today prepping a pigeon to feed the young fledgling sitting on ledge. Observing the resident adult pair - confirmed, neither of the adults are banded.Update with observations from the new Ottawa Heron Road peregrine nest site. June 29th - 2012 One juvenile falcon sitting / resting on window ledge E Wing facing West Sir Charles Tupper Bldg - Heron & Riverside. Seems the juvenile flew from the nest located above the Taxation Data Centre Heron Rd - made it’s way across the street to end up resting on the window ledge - not sure if he / she is injured = Mom and Dad did manage to hunt down a pigeon - prepaired it on roof to feed it’s young a few floors below - one camera is set on the dead pigeon - waiting for mom & dad to return -and another on the juvenile. Also to note Both Mom and Dad don’t appear to have any leg bands / tags visible. What a beautiful bird - Hope the young one is OK . (Friday, June 29, 2012) — (7:10 a.m.)

I was walking up Wellington Street as per my usual morning routine when I spotted a falcon once again in the reflection of the Constitution Square, Tower 1 building. It was perched on the SW corner of the Delta Ottawa City Centre hotel rooftop. By the time I reached Queen Street, it had flown around the hotel and was observed flying over Queen Street. It was making impressive swoops and dives much to my amazement. It did one final fly by and was headed north up and over the Marriott hotel. What a sight it must have been for anyone looking out of their hotel window at that moment. I’d certainly appreciate observing Diana from that vantage point. I hope that everyone enjoys a festive Canada Day weekend!It’s never over untiil its over as they say! Two peregrines observed again on the Delta! June 28, 2012 - Ottawa - Delta Ottawa City Centre June 28th - 2012 - 3:00 - 3:44pm Diana is presently sitting on the ledge between the pillars to her nest and I can see another falcon sitting on the corner of the South East corner of the Delta.

They both sat like this for at least 40 minutes. Diana has just dropped down from view into her nest. June 27, 2012 - Ottawa - Delta Ottawa City Centre June 27th - 2012 I work across the street from the Crowne Plaza / Delta and just noticed a second falcon flying around. For a few minutes it was perched off of the mid-section of Tower C while Diana was perched in her usual spot between the pillars to her nest. Diane is also flying around this morning. I can’t tell if this is a new peregrine or if it is Connor. His front seemed to be mostly all white. Diana is doing well and still on territory.
