Users in the relevant areas will now see Amazon Restaurants on the homepage of their Prime Now app. The tool will allow them to browse participating restaurants, view menus, place orders and track their deliveries in real time. As with existing Prime Now services, orders are delivered within one hour – while delivery is free for any order above £15. The Amazon Restaurants service first launched in Seattle last September and was later rolled out to other major US cities. Al Wilkinson, UK head of Amazon Restaurants, said: "Based on our own research into what is important to consumers in food delivery, our team have hand-picked a selection of the best quality local restaurants in London. We’re excited to be helping many of these small businesses start offering home delivery for the very first time."

Restaurants offering a delivery service for the first time through Amazon include exotic meat specialist Archipelago, and Baltic Restaurant, which serves Baltic, Polish, Russian and Hungarian cuisine. Archipelago head chef and manager Daniel Creedon said: "Home delivery is something we have long considered but haven’t been confident that the food would arrive in best condition. "We believe with Amazon’s experience and success in the US and their understanding of logistics here in London, they are perfectly placed to deliver a service which will ensure our food reaches our customers as it should." Postcodes currently covered are E1, E2, E3, E5, E8, E9, N1, N16, EC1, EC2, EC3, EC4, SW1, SW3, W1, WC1, WC2, SE1 and SE11. Whereas with most Indian takeaways I stick to the same script every time (chicken rogan josh, garlic naan, sag aloo), at Babur there’s so much great stuff I mix it up a lot. Three dishes I’ve really liked are the clove-smoked lamb chops, vegetarian thali and the pan-seared stone bass with fennel chutney.’ Where does it deliver to?

The first thing that I shout down the phone in my excitement is my order for the crab thoran. It’s a warming, light dish of fresh crabmeat, fried with onions, chunks of fresh ginger, coconut and curry leaves, served with a spiced yogurt chutney. It’s one of my favourite dishes in London, even if I am slightly allergic to crab. I will put up with the itchy face for this brilliant dish!’Within a two-mile radius of its Peckham restaurant. By Chloe Timms, founder of Fatties Bakery. ‘Wuli Wuli have two menus: one Cantonese and one Sichuan. The latter is rather good, although not as spicy as when they first started out. They’re very close to my house, but hey: takeaway nights are supposed to be lazy! I usually order salvia chicken. Don’t be scared – it’s a dish of cold chicken in chilli oil sauce, smacked cucumber in hot garlic sauce, steamed rice and mapo tofu.' Where do they deliver to? By Helen Graves, food blogger. ‘I’ve been ordering from Holy Cow for about five years.

Their food is just so fresh and tasty, and unlike any other Indian takeaway I have come across. I usually order lamb bhuna, muttar paneer and pathani baigan, a nice selection of veggies and meat that go well together on one plate.’Across London, see website for local branch. By Anna Hansen, head chef at The Modern Pantry. ‘I’ve been ordering from these guys for the past year. I saw them mentioned on Twitter and I gave them a go. Their curries are flavoursome and cooked fresh, with minimal grease. I always get the prawn puri under the starters menu: massive, fat, delicious prawns on top of a chewy flatbread. Another great dish is the murgh madurai. When they says it’s hot, it really is freaking hot, but not gratuitously so.’Across south and west London, check their website for details. By Lizzie Mabbott, blogger at Hollow Legs. Yak & Yeti - Crystal Palace ‘This is a fantastic Nepalese restaurant in the Crystal Palace triangle. The traditional dishes are what make me come back every time.
