Assorted Wraps, and Salad: Assorted Wraps, Salads and Calzone: Hummus platter, Falafel wraps and Israeli Salad: Sushi appetizer, Salmon, Pasta and Salad Main:My Sushi is a new restaurant in Givat Shaul that offers a large variety of sushi and Asian food and it under the excellent kosher mehadrin supervision of Rabbi Machpud. My wife and I were on our way to a nearby restaurant to celebrate Rosh Chodesh.

As we approached our destination, we noticed the sign of My Sushi, and since we’re really fond of sushi and Asian food, this peeked our interest.

My Sushi was hopping. The waiters were rushing back and forth to the kitchen and we saw lots of takeaway orders being called in as well. The staff in the kitchen who were preparing the cooked Asian food were extremely busy, I could see them through the window, so were the staff behind the counter who were preparing the sushi. The variety of sushi and Asian food on the menu is quite large. As has become the sushi standard around the world, here too you can order the sushi inside-out (rice outside and Nori inside) or outside-in (Nori on the outside), fish outside and the rest inside etc etc. Anyone ever hear of an inside-out hamburger?! We ordered two servings of maki sushi, one with salmon and the other with red tuna. The presentation was simple: cut sushi rolls lined up, a small ball of wasabi and some ginger all positioned on an elongated white dish. The sushi was delicious. The rice was nicely seasoned and the fish was soft. We also ordered sushi sandwiches with salmon and avocado, and despite my fanaticism for standard, old fashioned sushi, I was very impressed by the look and taste of the dish.

The sandwiches were triangular shaped with the rice serving as the “bread,” decorated with white sesame seeds and nigella. and the fish, the avocado and nori were the filling. I highly recommend this dish. The rainbow roll was also very tasty and very worthwhile ordering. The roll is wrapped with a thin strip of tender salmon surrounding the round-shaped sushi and it too was garnished with sesame seeds and nigella. Since we wanted to test out something besides sushi we also ordered a chicken noodle dish. It was served in an attractive black bowl and decorated with chopped scallions. The green onions together with the orange carrots, beige noodles and dark mushrooms created a colorful and inviting dish. The seasoning was very good, and the chicken was tender and tasty. The service at My Sushi was courteous and quick. Our waiter was a young man who had made aliyah from France judging by his accent. He really tried hard to please us. The dishes arrived shortly after we ordered despite the large number of orders that kept flowing in.

The waiters, the kitchen staff and the owner worked hard to deliver the food punctually. Open from noon to late every night, SBJ is a place to stop in and enjoy Asian cuisine any time of the day or night. You can count on great food and a good time any time you come. What did you say you were eating? Whatever it is, they've got it at SBJ. The menu is long but easy to peruse. In every category there are tips: "Recommended" "Spicy" and "Vegetarian." That makes it easy to choose your dishes, eliminating some and focusing on other menu items.

Sometimes a menu item will have more than one tip, like Spicy and Recommended. That is certainly a matter of taste. The menu recommends Tempura Mushrooms as the starter. This is described as champion mushrooms in tempura dressed with Teriyaki sauce. The other recommended dish is the chicken wings on tempura onion rings, chili sauce, honey and ginger. While these sounds delicious, we were attracted to the fish and chips. In the Salads section I would go for the tofu and mushroom salad. There is also a very enticing looking rice and Noodle section. Grilled meats have a Japanese twist. There is also a childrens menu. The second page of the menu is all about sushi. There is a section called Special sushi, combinations, Maki Sashimi Nigri. The menu recommends two rolls: Sunrise Roll and Lime Roll. Salmon tempura, avocado and chives, coated with sweet potato and teriyaki. That sounds good to me. The more adventuresome will take the second recommendation:This sounds like it has every ingredient except the kitchen sink.
