I'm a vegetarian and I have very much enjoyed the options available to me such as the aga dashi tofu (without bonito) and a variety of maki rolls. My seafood and meat eating companions have thoroughly enjoyed all of the meals, sushi dishes, through hot soup bowls. The service can be a little slow at times, but always pleasant. As someone who has lived in Japan and traveled there numerous times I like to think I'm a reasonably qualified critic of Japanese cuisine. In my opinion Junji is as good as it gets "on this side of the pond". I'm not extremely adventurous in what I order- Miso soup, Gyoza, Edamame, Veggie Tempura, Yakitori, Tuna Maki, Salmon Maki- but... I had the immense pleasure of spending an evening at this amazing restaurant with a fellow foodie. We ordered an array of sushi, sashimi, appetizers, and a desert and were extremely pleased with every single dish. Nice room and ample choices beyond the excellent sushi. Junji and is wife, who sings jazz numbers on an occasional Friday night, are special human beings and their vibe sets the tone. Far better sushi and Japanese food than should exist in a town the size of Marblehead. Have never had a bad meal here in over 10 visits. Only because I would like to keep this my own little secret. I have had Meso soup, sashimi of all makes... Visiting Junji for sushi is as close as you'll get to Jiro Ono (Jiro Dreams of Sushi) in New England, perhaps the US. Junji is the real deal, a master at sushi making with something like 40+ years experience. I have had sushi from Junji probably 3-400 times over the past couple of decades and a couple dozen times at... Townies longed for the day when we would get authentic Japanese and now we have got it.

The sushi is great but ask about the cooked food. You will be gald you did Four of us had lunch here recently - lots of sushi - and it was great.
