About Ichiban Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar
At Ichiban Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar, each specialty roll reels in hungry visitors with a core of flavorful ingredients such as roasted eel, mussels, and spicy sesame sauce. Of the many rolls on the menu, the Box Sushi roll with seared tuna and spicy crab meat might be the most unique one, since it uses a Japanese wooden box instead of seaweed paper to achieve its classic tubular shape. In addition to rolling sushi, chefs also top donburi Japanese rice bowls with teriyaki chicken and curried beef. jiro dreams of sushi sweEven the appetizers are steeped in distinctly Asian flavors, from fried pork gyoza dumplings to veggies encased in a crispy tempura shell.jiro dreams of sushi blu ray australia Great dinner at Ichiban. jiro dreams of sushi gross

The sushi is unimaginative but generally good. The combination plates are very popular and good. The Mesa isn't the most touristy part of Santa Barbara so I don't generally look to that area for high quality, but Ichiban could be very successful downtown or in Montecito because it is high quality and attractive - though I believe the prices would be more and it is refreshing to see prices this reasonable. I will be back. I have always liked Ichiban. Several years ago, the old owner retired.
The new owners have done a great job of keeping what was good and improving many other things. New menu with new combinations. A little more polished presentation. Just appropriate changes that make this that much better. My wife and I eat at Ichiban about 5 times per month. The fish is always fresh and top notch.
