Almost everyone I know just loves that delicious carrot-ginger dressing they serve up in nearly all Japanese restaurants around the world. Made with sweet carrots and spicy ginger, that dressing can make a salad lover out of the most ardent beef eaters and today I have a super healthy version of that dressing that you can whip up quickly and keep on hand for a week’s worth of delicious salads in your home! In addition to the usual ingredients of tamari, sesame oil, carrots and ginger, this version has two added ingredients for greater nutritional heft. Instead of using olive oil, I made this dressing with Flax Seed Oil which is terrific for anyone looking to prevent breast cancer, manage mood, and balance hormonal fluctuations. Additionally, I used miso paste rather than salt for it’s fermented properties and the beneficial impact it has on the gastrointestinal tract. Healthy and totally yummy, this dressing can be kept in a sealed jar for as long as a week in the refrigerator.

Having a salad a day can go a long way towards improving the quality of your health. The problem with salads though is that many people smother their greens with high fat, high salt and low nutrition dressings. With this dressing you know you are getting quality ingredients that will optimize your health and make your salad burst with flavor! Give it a try and let me know what you think, as I love to hear your feedback~ Have a wonderful Monday and a great week! 3 Medium carrots, chopped 1/4 Cup peeled, chopped fresh ginger 1/4 Cup chopped shallots 1/4 Cup rice wine vinegar 1 Tablespoon gluten-free Tamari 1 Tablespoon Asian Sesame Oil 1-2 Tablespoons white miso paste 1/2 Cup flax seed oil Blend all the ingredients together in a high-speed blender, until well blended—but chunky. Thin with extra water if necessary. Adjust flavors if necessary. I don't even know if the dressing has a legit Japanese name. Anyway, looking for bottled version of it.

My fruit basket displayed 4 lonely bananas, 2 wrinkly mangos and going bad but I will keep you lime. What is for dinner? What IS for dinner, really? This question along with next question once dinner is on a plate “What is THIS?” are pulsating in my head 24/7. Many days I am already stressed about dinner the minute I wake up. I’m not going to sit here and pretend that me, a person who runs a clean eating food blog for a living, has it all figured out. And you, all working away from home moms, just do not know the secret and let me show you the secret, a recipe with a secret ingredient. Yesterday I was on Foodgawker for a reason I can’t remember and one recipe stated “This secret life changing recipe has one secret ingredient you would never guess” something like that shit. What else we don’t know? After that I got so unreasonably quietly mad, I went to my Bloglovin’ and deleted all blogs that didn’t exhude (I Googled this word) honesty, inspiration and passion.

Most of them are medium-big blogs. A few weeks ago I started googling clean eating blogs run by girls who I can relate to and share experiences. So, I added a few from a very large amount of looked at blogs. What is wrong with people in 2016 by not replying to comments on their blogs or messages? Like who are you and what are you blogging for? Honestly, it pisses me off this race for money with blogging and copying each other. Ugh, so so so bored. What are you even talking about on your blog among 10 essentially the same photos. Like what is the point? So that is bad news. Good news is there are blogs I enjoy to read and find these girls truly amazing. They are not huge million page views blogs (well some are) but rather inspirational down to Earth women. My favourite blogs to read: Vera’s Cooking, Refreshed and Fit, Aggie’s Kitchen, Back to Her Roots, Errter’s Place, Foodess, He and She Eat Clean, Sarah Fit, Walnut Avenue, Cafe Delites, Olga’s Flavour Factory and The Seasoned Mom.

I mean a pleasure to read and look at! Now that my rant is over let’s return to my carrot ginger salad dressing. I had a bag of organic baby carrots along with club soda, olives and spinach in the fridge. And this Japanese restaurant style dressing came to mind. I do remember buying it in a styrofoam container, from Japanese restaurant years and years ago when we lived in Calgary. Back then I was a student, Alex barely made enough money as a graphic designer to support 2 of us, we had no kids. Japanese restaurant and this dressing was a treat. Now, we can afford to go out 4 of us for a $60 dinner. We don’t do it more than once every few months because I can cook and am still frugal. So…now, I suspect chefs use miso paste in their version and I have one BUT I assumed many of you wouldn’t so I made this recipe without it but rather with soy sauce (liquid aminos in my case). Aaaaaaand I poured it on top of one secret ingredient dinner you would never guess haha. You will love this frozen vegetables stir fry!
