yo sushi voucher november 2013

So better late than never, right!! It’s been two weeks since date 17 took place with Ann Maria, and with everything else going on around Challenge Ten, I haven’t had an opportunity to update the blog. My original plans had fallen through the previous day, so I mentioned to a few people on my weekly cycling trip that I had been cancelled on, one of the girls, Hilary, decided to make it her personal goal to find a suitable replacement. I’m not sure how many people she actually had to go through to find someone unattached, available and interested in going out on a blind date with a complete stranger, but she managed to achieve her little challenge, and a date was set up with Ann Maria, a final year Trinity College student, originally from Cork. We met at the front gates of Trinity College and as we had arranged to go to ‘Laugh Out Loud’ comedy club in Anseo, we set of in that general direction, we had discussed getting bite to eat and heading to the gig, so as we meandered through the side streets of Dublin 2, a suggestion of Yo Sushi was made

, as we are all aware at this stage, my culinary taste buds are completely under developed, but the initial fear of raw fish was calmed by Ann Maria’s insistence that is was fantastic. Ann Maria, was a few years younger than me, originally from Cork, but studying in Trinity, and looking forward to travelling the world on graduation later this year, she hasn’t quite settled on a destination as of yet, but is looking forward to escaping none the less. On arrival at the restaurant we were shown to our table and it took a few moments for the staff to introduce us (me) to the way the place works, with the track moving around with each of the dishes prepared ready to be eaten. I quickly got the hang of it, and order a hot dish to go with the sushi and I survived the experience. We were early for the comedy show so we sat downstairs and had a drink or two while we waited, we chatted about a whole range of things that were in the news and about ourselves. The comedy show was great, with one or two weaker performers starting the show, right onto the excellent Paul Tylak, (Father Ted), who had the place in stitches for most of the night, kudos to MC Aidan Killian for a great show over all.

We strolled back to Trinity where Ann Maria lives and parted ways, she was a lovely girl, and I had a great night overall. The only problem, and unfortunately this is a deal breaker for me, was that she was a smoker. I don’t have any other absolute deal breakers but it’s just something I can’t get over.
