Sushi full-time (More than 3 years) Pros Free food on shiftDiscount when not on shiftPaid breakOpportunities to get promoted Cons This company or people in head office don't care about employees.Very underpaid management team, always external people get better pay than someone who been promoted within the company.So many discounts and promotions - this shows to customers how cheap is the food actually.Extremely hard achievable bonus and no tips for management or extra pay if over working contract hours. Advice to Management Pay more for people as everyone working hard, also introduce TRONC system for management salaries as fixed salary makes no sense when need to over work contract hours by 10 hours a week, it's not charity job.

Cons No one cares about allowing you to have a personal life.Rotas are done in an extremely unfair way.Obvious Favouritism towards non-English workers among back of house staff.The site was rushed so the design of the restaurant is extremely un-optimised, causing massive losses.Poor location and marketing, No-one even knew the restaurant was in town even 6 months after we opened. Free staff food on break (small amount and with limitations on hot food) Cons The hours are long with only a 30 minute break (even on 10-12 hour shifts. Tips are awful as they are shared 50% with boh which has way more staff. Management unwilling to sort out problems with team members which has been bullying, constant lateness to work, skiving and things like that meaning others have to work much harder. Very bad in dealing with staff sickness and unwilling to send people home even if they have been vomiting during their shift.Each table has a button the customer can press to call someone over, it is good at first but people end up pressing it so many times creating a lot more work than at any other restaurant, yet we get way less tips.The way the kitchen/restaurant is designed means that when busy there is always a ridiculous wait for hot food so you are always dealingwith customer complaints.Rota gets put up at most a week in advance so it is impossible to plan anything. Advice to Management Give staff more than 30 minutes break when they are working 8+ hour shifts on their feet.
