Umai used to be really great, but in recent months it's taken a turn. The food is fine, but the presentation isn't very good. The staff are polite and their lunch and dinner options are a pretty good value, but the rice is often too much compared to how much fish you get inside the rolls. We went to Sudbury to see science north and landed on this place. Let me tell I felt like I got monies worth. I have had better sushi, no question. The service was good . The waitress really helped our kids order disputed a menu they didn't understand. We left full and happy. The three is a result of rather... I have to agree with the review of Ian R, something happened to the ownership of this restaurant. I really liked to come here, but things changed. The service, the food and the cleanliness. Smudges on the doors and windows that have not been attended to since our last visit 3 weeks ago, the servers we liked are gone and... Umai sushi used to be my favourite sushi place in Sudbury.

However, my last two visits have been terribly disappointing. The quality of the rolls has diminished significantly. They are limp, the rice is mushy, and the filling is skimpy. Often they are missing key ingredients and are simply small pieces of fish wrapped in rice and seaweed. Our group of four decided to come here for lunch. We ordered a green dragon roll (which was very large) and the lunch special (soup, salad, sushi and sashimi). Prices were reasonable and we all got a lot of food which was tasty. Service was good but then we were the only ones in the restaurant since we went near... Went here with friends today, and its was OK I give it four star just cause I love the service and environment but the food can be a bit better. Keep up the good work.And we loved it. I have not eaten here in nearly a year. Tried it out again tonight to see if things of gotten better. I was absolutely appalled. The food was so terrible we barely touched it. The deep fried scallops over cooked. Sai Mai came to the table and... Had a bad experience here about a year ago. Since then we have been back a few more times and are we ever glad have. The rice is awesome, the sushi is fresh, and the servers have been great each time. I'm here right now. I've been sitting here for 45 minutes and haven't received miso soup! One waiter who is working is butt off. They really need more staff. Out of all the sushi places in Sudbury this is my favourite one. the food is fresh, the staff is helpful Ate at Kobe for the third time the food was fresh as always. Decent selection and variety. However, they need to get more staff. I waited for 15 minutes before my drink order was taken. Usually I would walk but is was by my self and in no real hurry. It took 15 more minutes to get my food and... It's very rare that I get n night out with my friends, so this time we decided to take a chance on Kobe Sushi. I don't expect perfection when dining out at all you can eat establishments but I do expect edible food which this was not.
