Fresh fish is the key. I can not say enough about the quality of the fish. The creativity and love that goes into everything they do is apparent in every dish. No matter what you do have a spoonful of happiness! I live in Tokyo and often go to SF. Without fail, I always go to Sushi Koo because of the high quality, fresh sushi at decent prices. This place is authentic and the sushi chefs are all Japanese--which is very important as many sushi lovers would know. This place is comparable to many of the top end places in Tokyo,... This is my favorite Japanese place in San Francisco. Always fresh and prepared with dedication by talented chefs. The atmosphere is very warm and the staff very nice and helpful. My husband and I chose this place because it was close to where we stayed in the city. I think we got lucky, because it is more affordable than spots near the union area and it was probably just as good. We had a few different rolls, but the salmon was so so so good. We've had sushi in several...
The sushi was really good and reasonably priced and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I would recommend to anyone. The fish was excelent The head chef was very well spoken and nice The rest of the staff was extremly nice and helpful The bar is a little too low, which means that you do not see the chef's hands very well I asked for a chef to serve me what ever he felt like (classic Omakase) and my mind... We had a great time. It is a nice setting and nice decor. Great choice of sushi. It was fresh tasty, well presented, generous and genuine. As far as I am concerned the sushi rolls had too much rice. Otherwise it was great sushi. We would go back for sure. We ordered Tempura and sushi. They have an wide selection of Nigri that was extremely fresh. There were ~20 varieties not found on your standard sushi menu. I am always looking for excellent sushi and this place didn't disappoint. Some examples of what we had were, Shima Aji, Kanpachi, wild Hamachi, Hagatsuo, and fresh Hotate.
