US beauty vlogger Nikki Phillippi is the latest to get involved and wanted a healthy and vegetarian option as far away from the stereotypical burger as possible. “We love doing all the experimentation to open people’s minds to new things,” says Jamie Spafford – one quarter of Sorted Food.“We did a Bloody Mary one last week which was delicious, and a mac’n’cheese burger which was completely off the scale in terms of heart attack.”The culinary quartet - who are famous for creating recipes with a twist - have known each other for 17 years and launched Sorted Food when budding chef Ben Ebbrell was horrified to discover what his friends had been eating at University.“
The one thing we all had in common was that we were all eating complete and utter rubbish. Typical uni students, apart from Ben. He’d never really considered that people didn’t know how to cook.”Unimpressed by his friend’s diets, Ebbrell took to writing down easy recipes on the back of beer mats for the others to take back and trial. “We took those back to uni and started cooking them up and we had that really annoying moment when you know that your friend is right. You don’t want to admit it, but you know they are.”Fast forward four years and Sorted Food is fast becoming one of the biggest online cookery channels worldwide. With more than one million Youtube subscribers, book deals, and a long term marketing partnership with Tesco, Sorted Food have cemented themselves as the pièce de résistance of digital dining.But with twice weekly videos to make and upload, their fridge cam series to look after, and more than 500 comments a day to sift through, does their friendship ever feel the strain?

Spafford says: “I’d love to do something with Heston. To cook food from a completely different point of view and from that micro angle would be amazing.
I think him and Ben could really kick off the geeky side of things.”Barry, he says, would be keen to invite David Beckham, with Will Smith and Denzel Washington a favourite among the others. And if Spafford could invite anyone over for dinner, it “would probably be Taylor Swift”.The boys may be rubbing shoulder's with celebrities, and although they have made television appearances they are hesitant about stepping into the realms of traditional broadcasting because their channel is very much community focused – something that television “pollutes”. “The biggest thing for us is that we have a conversation with our community every minute of every day."Their videos are inspired by crowd sourced recipes from their online community, with viewers offering tips and twists on the boy's ideas."We get people saying I really want you to show me how to cook a tagine, and we’ll get people from Morocco saying 'Ok here’s a good tip for how to make it really tasty or traditional'.
