I've eaten all over Santa Cruz county had some disappointing sushi. Thanks to my daughter and her boyfriend I found Sushi Garden. So many places in Santa Cruz don't use fresh fish, but not here. I've never had anything "old" and I know old my son was a commercial fisherman! Really e wry thing about...The service was prompt and friendly, the food was of excellent quality. We have returned several times. There is a large selection of hot entrees, as well as sushi and sashimi options. The sashimi was fresh and flavorful and good size pieces. A little on the pricey side but not outrageous. I would go again. We usually go for lunch and the food is always flavorful, fresh and fabulous. The service is wonderful and very accommodating. When we are in town this is the sushi restaurant of choice for my daughters. Generous portions means we always seem to end up bringing food home. consistently good service and nice atmosphere. Went for a late lunch. Edamame was served immediately and service was fast and friendly. Ordered unfiltered sake and was correct this time. Deep Fried Gyoza appetizer was tasty. Order two of the Dragon rolls. I think the Happy and Green ones. One was a baked roll and one was served in aluminum foil and heated with Sterno. “Great rolls, questionable service” The sushi rolls were great, green dragon, hot tempura roll, salmon teriyaki, tempura. The problem was the service, asked for unfiltered saki, served filtered saki. Server did not know menu, could not answer simple questions about their sushi rolls. Water spotted glasses served with saki, the Manager tried to serve us another table sushi rolls, when we asked which rolls... “Much Better Service and excellent Dragon rolls.”

Three of us drove up from the Monterey area to this spot for dinner. We have done so many times in the past. The sashimi and other seafood selections are fresh, portions are extremely generous, and service is attentive. Located in a shopping center, but stand alone...open environment.
