I fell for Zipang sushi bar the first time I visit my calgarian son and daughter-in-law a few years ago. I was of course overjoyed that we went there for my belated birthday dinner. Zipang was packed and queued with diners of all ages. Luckily we had reserved a table but still had to wait for some minutes for those... “A REAL PIECE OF 'CIPANGU'(JAPAN)” I went for a dinner with friends/business. Food was good, staff were efficient and unobtrusive. The restaurant was well lit and neat. It's a small cozy place. Standard sushi fare and more. Try it, you'll like it. I wen't here with my wife for a special occasion and left very satisfied. The sushi was very tasty and fresh, the service was extremely good and the prices were reasonable. My wife loved her Seasoned Deep Fried Squid but I found my prawn tempura rather tasteless, texture was really good but the flavour wasn't there. All in all I... Good sushi, decent service but nothing spectacular. I would say a good place to eat but you won't be wowed.

I'm from Toronto and we have pretty good sushi bar, hence I rate this place with 3stars. This place is mediocre the least and very pricey for what you get. We ordered the black cod entree, spicy tuna, rainbow roll, california and large tempura. The black cod was supposed to be an entree as per the menu yet when we... It is very difficult to find a nice sushi place in Calgary. Most of sushi places are both overpriced and not to Vancouver standards. But here at least the quality is about the same as sushi places in Vancouver. At least you won't be disappointed. I like trying out new sushi places around town (lunch and dinner). I thought this place was going to be crowded over lunch but there was enough space, we arrived at 12:19PM. The lunch special (teriyaki chicken and sushi) was great. The chicken came in large pieces and the sushi was very fresh. The service was attentive and fast. This is a fabulous spot with the freshest of fresh sushi, sashimi, rolls, and grilled fish.

The cooked spinach with black sesame paste was delicious as an appetizer. The menu selection was large and varied. Don't miss this one!
