You are actually are fantastic and infinitely worthy of people’s company.  That person you used to care about, who taught you to hate yourself by abandoning you, is an outlier and should not have been countedthis is the greatest and most positive use of a meme that i have ever seen. lovelysuggestions:You have survived every moment of your life, even the ones you swore you wouldn’t. Take your time, do some self care, reflect on the progress that you have made. one step back is nothing when you look at the journey you have already made. Hey there, thank you so much for reaching out to us. It’s a very brave and strong thing to do, so well done. There are alternatives to self-harm, and again, it’s very good that you are looking for an alternative. We are proud of you.So, here’s some things you can do:- do some sort of exercise: if it’s day time and it’s possible, go for a walk and clear your head.
If you can get out of the house, you’ve got less things that you can try to harm yourself with. If you can, run as fast and as hard as you can until it physically hurts. Some consider this to be self-harm because you’re pushing yourself to exhaustion, but it is not something that is very dangerous, and it is something that will distract you. If you’re at home in your room, you can try some other exercises that physically exhaust you.- hold ice in your hands until it hurts and you have to let it go. This is also something that isn’t going to cause any permanent damage, it’s distracting, and it’s also can offer a non-evasive sort of physical pain.- when some people self harm, they do it because they want to see some sort of physical pain that matches and validates their emotional pain. So, using a red marker and drawing lines on your arm can act as a substitute for this. You can draw the lines, wash it off, do it again if you need to. You can draw other things as well, maybe words your feeling, and wash them off and start again.- write the name of someone you love, or something you love, on your wrist or wherever you self-harm, so each time you want to you self-harm, you see their name.
Ideally, you don’t want to hurt the person or thing that’s on your wrist (or anywhere else), so hopefully you try to avoid self-harm- trying to distract yourself when you feel like you need to self-harm is probably one of the best things to do as well. So, do some drawing, listen to some music, watch a movie, hang out with a pet…just try to distract yourself until the urge to cut decreases. - one of the most helpful things I know to do is to take yourself into a public space if possible, go out and into your lounge room, sit with your family or just be around people. This takes away some of the power the urge to self-harm has. You aren’t in a private space so you can’t really do something to yourself without people noticing, which is a good thing, because it means you can’t self-harm. Take yourself away from the things you can use to self-harm, and this can help the desire dissipate.Hopefully these were some things that you could do to not self-harm. Some of these things will work for you, and some wont - everyone’s different, but you’ll find something that works for you.
Remember, there’s always another alternative, and reaching out for support or advice doesn’t mean you’re weak in any way. You’re not the only person feeling this way, and you’re not the only person experiencing the desire to self-harm that you are. (:Here’s a website that also offers some useful alternatives. (:https://www.rcpsych.ac.uk/PDF/Self-Harm%20Distractions%20and%20Alternatives%20FINAL.pdfWe are here whenever you need some distraction or support. Lots of love,Emily xx (@forever-out-of-style) Hi sweetie,First of all I wanna say I’m so sorry to hear you are going through this and thank you for reaching out to us, this is a really good step, asking for help, and I’m really proud of you for doing that, be proud of yourself, it may not seem big, but it’s a step in the right direction. The most important thing to focus on is getting back up. You relapsed and that happened, but it’s not the end of the world. You’ve done this before and you can do it again honey.
And one thing I am so very sure of is that Taylor is already proud of you, she’s proud of you for fighting, and even though sometimes it gets to be too much and you slip, you are strong enough to get back up again. I’m so proud of you for trying, and that’s the only thing you can keep doing. Trying, and taking it one day at a time. Forgive yourself for relapsing, and try to move past it so you can start over. And just as you’re asking for our help right now, it’s ok to reach out to people in your close proximity, a friend, a family member, a counsellor or a therapist. You don’t have to go through this alone, let someone know you’re struggling, don’t be afraid to ask for the help you need and deserve. You are so strong, you can get through this. And when you think of relapsing, please let someone know, or remove yourself from the current situation, take a walk, anything that will help you turn off those thoughts. I hope this was of some help, if any of our followers have any advice they’d like to share, please do!
