Written and directed by Rock Baijnauth, the film originally titled “Drip” received nearly $53,000 in crowd-funded backing through Kickstarter. On the “Drip” campaign page, Baijnauth said the movie’s title was changed to ensure potential viewers would have a clearer understanding of the film’s focus. In this case, the focus is largely on the run-up to the 2013 U.S. Barista Championship in Boston. The documentary follows some well-known baristas including Charlie Habegger, Charles Babinski, Eden-Marie Abramowicz, Ryan Redden and Truman Severson.

Incidentally, it may also prove to be a boon for the specialty coffee industry, expanding consumer interest and, in turn, advancing the very concept of professionalism in high-end coffee. It might even do more for real-life latte artists than the character of Kato did in “The Green Hornet.” Here’s more from the source on what the film is all about: And without further ado, the trailer: Nick Brown is the editor of Daily Coffee News by Roast Magazine. [WARNING: This trailer contains SPOILERS for The Lazarus Effect.] The Lazarus Effect joins such upcoming 2015 releases as Jurassic World, on the list of features that look to remind us that when scientists play god in the movies, it rarely works out well. A newly-released trailer for Lazarus Effect (see above) starts out painting the film as being a straight-forward sci-fi/horror thriller, before shifting gears somewhat partway through… and revealing a bit too much about some things that happen later during the film’s second and third acts, in the process.

Lazarus Effect stars Olivia Wilde and actor/filmmaker Mark Duplass (Togetherness) as members of a group of medical students, who are working on an experimental treatment for resurrecting the dead on deceased animals – a treatment that seems to work, at that. However, when one of their kind (Wilde) is killed in a lab accident, she ends up becoming the first human tested. And the results are (you’ll never believe it) not altogether ideal. However, complaints about spoiler-y material in the trailer aside, Lazarus Effect comes off as a somewhat bland cautionary science horror/thriller, in this preview footage. The film’s cast includes fan-faves Evan Peters (American Horror Story) and Donald Glover (Community), and it was directed by documentarian David Geib (the acclaimed Jiro Dreams of Sushi). On the other hand, though, it was scripted by Luke Dawson (the not acclaimed Thai horror remake Shutter) and newcomer Jeremy Slater (who wrote an early Fantastic Four reboot script draft).
