Categories: Welcome to Sushi-Thai Cary, North Carolina | I could eat sushi for breakfast, lunch and dinner.....every day. It's often a heated debate when it comes to sushi.  Finding the perfect combination can be tricky with so many moving parts: fresh fish, rice-type, special sauces and the blending of ingredients to make the perfect specialty roll. Here are our five favorite sushi spots: Sono (Raleigh): Now this is a great date spot.  Located in the heart of downtown Raleigh, Sono is home to some of the best specialty rolls in town.  Check out the Screaming-O Roll or the Spicy Cajun.  The latter is a take on the classic California roll topped with spicy crawfish and cheese baked to golden brown. Go ahead and plan on pairing your meal with the Asian Pear martini...absolutely delicious.   Waraji (Raleigh):  Tucked away in a small strip mall on Duraleigh Rd, Waraji is one of those places that I bet you've passed on numerous occasions and didn't even realize it was there.  Whatever you do, do not leave without ordering the Scary Jerry Roll.
The Scary is a combination of 2 of their most popular specialty rolls topped with spicy mayo tuna, yellowtail, salmon and avocado.  Akashi (Durham): Akashi is located on Highway 54 in Durham and is home to a vast assortment of specialty rolls.  Not only are rolls like the Sweet Romeo Roll (spicy tuna, tempura flakes, cilantro, avocado, topped with eel sauce) delicious, they're all half-price.   Haru Sushi (Raleigh): Haru is another hidden gem, nestled in the strip mall on the corner of Glenwood Ave. and Oberlin Rd.  The staff is extremely friendly, the service is consistent and everything from sushi to sake is reasonably priced. For something a bit off the beaten path try the Sweet Potato Roll.    Tasu (Raleigh): Not only is the sushi at Tasu wonderful, it's buy one get one free....every single day. The value is second to none in the Triangle and Tasu is now open in both Brier Creek and Cary Crossroads. The Atlantic Lover Roll is one of our favorites with snow crab meat and cream cheese topped with four kinds of fish and three kinds of roes.
