October Glory Maples get 40 to 50 feet tall and 25 to 30 feet wide so plant yours in an area that provides it with enough space to flourish. October Glory Maples prefer slightly acidic soil but they will adapt to your natural soil even if it's sandy or heavy in clay. October Glory Maple trees require one and a half inches of water a week and should be fertilized once a month during the summer with a well balanced fertilizer like formula 10-10-10. Helicopter seed pods (Samaras) and little red flowers emerge in the Spring. The pods ripen from April to June and their seeds are spread from April to July.
